If you are speaking truth to power, your work will show it. There is no need to boast about it. Journalism is a noble profession. If you muddy the waters with personal issues, you’ll get called out.

As members of the fourth estate, we have a responsibility to the society first. We are not here to tell people how wonderful we are. Instead, we are fellow travellers with people who have given us their trust and ear.

Democracy is a luxury that must be fought for, and its voice must be secured and protected every day. From being a household name in Malta, Daphne has become a lighthouse for justice across Europe and beyond.

The fact of the meeting apart, there are all indications that this will be a spill-words meet where what is not said or seen will most likely be more important than what is.

(A few days ago, a former journalist with a Hindi news channel - News Nation - revealed that his organisation gave standing instructions to reporters not to speak against any BJP leader, including the Prime Minister; criticise the opposition; to instigate Muslims and make them give out controversial statements. The channel reporters interviewed young Muslim children and asked them questions about which they would have little or no knowledge to make them look bad. This and all the vicious reporting going on in India in the name of journalism is the context to this article.)
