The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued an appeal to all citizens, emphasising that the time has come for voters to make their voices heard. The ECI has urged the voters to leave their homes, proceed to their designated polling stations, and cast their votes with a sense of responsibility and pride.

Elections 2024 Phase 1 Facts 

Today marks a significant day in India's democratic process. In this first phase, voters from 102 constituencies across 21 states are heading to the polls. This phase also includes crucial state assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, covering 92 assembly constituencies. Polling stations opened their doors at 7 AM and will close at 6 PM.

A team of over 18 lakh polling officials are in place to welcome more than 16.63 crore voters across 1.87 lakh polling stations. 

The electorate comprises approximately 8.4 crore male voters, 8.23 crore female voters, and 11,371 third gender voters.

Notably, this election includes 35.67 lakh first-time voters and a significant segment of 3.51 crore young voters aged between 20 and 29 years.

There are 1,625 candidates vying for votes in this phase, with 1,491 males and 134 females participating in the electoral contest.
