Dr. Jayant Murthy is a former research scientist from Johns Hopkins University, Maryland, USA, who concluded his career as a Senior Professor at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) in Bangalore. He earned his PhD in Physics from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Murthy's research has been pivotal in space missions, including payload projects on the Space Shuttle (TAUVEX and UVIT missions), studies on interstellar dust and the diffuse radiation field, and the SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) project, among others. Recognised as one of the country's leading scientists, Dr. Jayant is dedicated to popularising science among non-scientific communities, aiming to highlight the benefits of science to humanity.
